Wiper and Washer Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

  • The manual operation signals are sent to the main body ECU.
  • Perform this inspection with the back door window glass fully closed.

(a) Check whether the rear wiper and washer systems operate normally.

INSPECT FUSE (ECU-IG No. 2)


(a) Remove the ECU-IG No. 2 fuse from the main body ECU.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

ECU-IG No. 2 fuse

(c) Reinstall the ECU-IG No. 2 fuse.

INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the windshield wiper switch assembly.



(b) Inspect the rear wiper switch.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

2 (EW) - 6 (C1R)

Rear wiper switch OFF

10 kΩ or higher

2 (EW) - 7 (+1R)

(d) Inspect the rear washer switch.

(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(f) Reinstall the the windshield wiper switch assembly.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH - BODY GROUND)


(a) Disconnect the H14 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

(c) Reconnect the windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU)


(a) Disconnect the H3 and H4 main body ECU connector.

(b) Inspect the rear wiper switch.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Rear wiper switch OFF

H3-9 (RWON) - Body ground

H4-7 (RWSW) - Body ground

Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in ON position)

(d) Inspect the rear washer switch.

(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(f) Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - MAIN BODY ECU)


(a) Disconnect the DA main body ECU connector.

(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

(c) Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - IGNITION SWITCH, BODY GROUND)


(a) Disconnect the DD main body ECU connector.

(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the windshield wiper switch assembly.

(c) Reinstall the windshield wiper switch assembly.

(a) Disconnect the H3 main body ECU connector.



(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Rear wiper switch OFF

10 kΩ or higher

H3-9 (RWON) - Body ground

(c) Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

10.

INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the windshield wiper switch assembly.



(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(c) Reinstall the windshield wiper switch assembly.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU, BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the H4 main body ECU connector.



(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

H4-7 (RWSW) - Body ground

Rear washer switch OFF

10 kΩ or higher

H4-7 (RWSW) - Body ground

Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in ON position)

(c) Reconnect the main body ECU connector.
